What is Brushing?
Brushing involves placing vegetative cuttings on areas of dunal erosion in order to prevent further erosion and enhance rehabilitation. Brushing helps to stabilise the soil by lifting the wind off the soil surface and preventing sand from moving about. It has an additional advantage of lowering evaporation of soil moisture from the surface and thus increasing available soil moisture for plant growth.Back to Index
